چکیده

In order to assure Quality of Service (QoS) connectivity, Network Service Providers (NSPs) negotiate Service Level Agreements (SLAs). However, a committed SLA might fail to respect its QoS promises. In such a case, the customer is refunded. To maximize their revenues, the NSPs must deal with risks of SLA violations, which are correlated to their network capacities. Due to the complexity of the problem, we first study a system with one NSP provider and give a method to compute its risk-aware optimal strategy using (max,+)-algebras. Using the same method, we study the case where two NSPs collaborate and the case where they compete, and we derive the Price of Anarchy. This method provides optimal negotiation strategies but, when modeling customers’ reaction to SLA failure, analytical results do not hold. Hence, we propose a learning framework that chooses the NSP risk-aware optimal strategy under failures capturing the impact of reputation. Finally, by simulation, we observe how the NSP can benefit from such a framework. ∗This work has been partially supported by the ETICSproject, a project funded by the European Commission through the 7th ICT-Framework Program. Supporting SLA provisioning in grids by risk management processes

Grid technologies have reached a high level of development, however core shortcomings have been identified relating to security, trust, and dependability of the Grid which reduce its appeal to potential commercial adopters. Users require a job execution with a desired priority and quality. In order to stipulate such requirements, Service Level Agreements (SLA) can be negotiated. These are a pow...

SLA-Driven Flexible Bandwidth Reservation Negotiation Schemes for QoS Aware IP Networks

We present a generic Service Level Agreement (SLA)-driven service provisioning architecture, which enables dynamic and flexible bandwidth reservation schemes on a per-user or a per-application basis. Various session level SLA negotiation schemes involving bandwidth allocation, service start time and service duration parameters are introduced and analysed. The results show that these negotiation...

Towards a Meta-Negotiation Architecture for SLA-Aware Grid Services

In novel market-oriented resource sharing models resource consumers pay for the resource usage and expect that non-functional requirements for the application execution, termed as Quality of Service (QoS), are satisfied. QoS is negotiated between two parties following the specific negotiation protocols and is recorded using Service Level Agreements (SLAs) standard. However, most of the existing...

SLA-enabled Enterprise IT

The SLA@SOI project has researched and engineered technologies to embed SLA-aware infrastructures into the service economy. It has published models, defined architectures, developed an open-source framework and driven open standards such as the Open Cloud Computing Interface. In this demo the application of SLA@SOI in an enterprise IT use case will be demonstrated. The presentation will cover t...

Operation of an SLA-aware Grid Fabric

Research on Grid Computing started under purely technical questions of how to realize the virtualization of distributed resources. Now, the commercial user should be attracted to use the Grid. Future applications of the Next Generation Grid will demand for flexible negotiation mechanisms supporting various ways of Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees. In this context a Service Level Agreement (S...
